Artist Biography
Welcome! Thank you for visiting. My name is
Celeste. I am an artist, yoga instructor, and nurturer at heart. Originally from
Vancouver Island, British Columbia, I currently live in a small Alberta town
with my husband, our children, two kitties, and two very mischievous golden
retrievers. We reside in a historic 1918 Craftsman cottage creating an artful
life that includes organic gardening, vegetarian cooking, rescuing vintage
furniture, decorating our home…and our most recent project, restoring classic
‘60’s VW Beetles.
Much of my childhood was spent at my
grandparent’s little seaside home. I can vividly recall my eyes aching as I
looked out over the water, hoping to catch even the quickest flash of a
mermaid’s tail. I searched their garden high and low…for I was certain that
fairies lived there. This sense of wonder, and magic is with me today, and it
remains a huge influence on my art, along with nature, history, literature… even
ordinary life. Inspiration can so often be found by looking at the seemingly
mundane through fresh eyes.
I work out of my home based studio where I sell
my art direct, and online. I have completed numerous portrait commissions, and
in 2006 exhibited for the first time at the Airdrie Art Gallery, which at the
time was the first art gallery in Airdrie,
Alberta.

Artist Statement
Sensual, whimsical, spiritual and feminine. These are a few adjectives
others use to describe my art. To me it is an exploration into finding harmony,
body, and soul. Coaxing images to life from a blank canvas or sheet of paper
helps me celebrate my joy and love of life with creative purpose.
I work with a variety of mediums such as charcoal, acrylics, watercolours, and
photography. I instinctively gravitate towards gentler curves and softer lines –
perhaps in keeping with my philosophies in life. Experimenting with form and
colour, as well as learning new ways of expressing myself challenge me to find
the harmony that connects the visual with the spiritual.
